Today, on April 15, 2024, the People and the Government of Japan, in collaboration with the UNDP, demonstrated its continued commitment to fostering sustainable peace in Ethiopia by donating 12 field vehicles to the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission.
During the event, Shibata Hironori, the Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia, emphasized Japan’s dedication to supporting Ethiopia’s national dialogue initiative. He affirmed that Japan will continue to assist the entire process.
Samuel Gbaydee Doe, the UNDP’s Resident Representative to Ethiopia, highlighted the crucial role of national dialogue in promoting peace and development within the country.
The Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission expressed gratitude for the donation and reaffirmed the Commission’s efforts to foster national consensus in Ethiopia. He emphasized the importance of such contributions in achieving the Commission’s overarching objectives. Additionally, he extended warm appreciation to all partners involved in supporting Ethiopia’s national dialogue process and called upon stakeholders to collaborate in fostering national unity and consensus.
The event was attended by members of the Commission, representatives from UNDP Ethiopia, and Commission staff.
