The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) conducted a consultative meeting in Adama with representatives of political parties under the theme “The Active Participation of Political Parties for the Success of the National Dialogue.”
In his opening remarks, Chief Commissioner Professor Mesfin Areya stated that the Commission is undertaking essential preparatory activities to ensure a smooth transition to the upcoming National Dialogue Conference. He noted the Commission’s ongoing efforts to promote broad inclusion, emphasizing that more than 80% of registered political parties are already participating in the national dialogue process.
Professor Mesfin stressed the importance of engaging parties that have not yet joined, reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to ensuring an inclusive and participatory process. He also highlighted the need to maintain a careful balance as the country prepares for both the national dialogue and the upcoming national elections.
In his closing remarks, the Chief Commissioner urged all political parties and stakeholders to actively participate in the upcoming phases of the national dialogue.
Addressing questions regarding dialogue initiatives in the Tigray region, the Commission reiterated its strong belief that the people of Tigray will benefit from the national dialogue process just as other regions did—regardless of whether current challenges in the region have been fully resolved.
