July 25, 2026

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Conference has advanced to the next stage of its deliberations, with discussions now being consolidated across the eight agenda items under consideration, according to the Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission, Professor Mesfin Araya.

Professor Mesfin explained that discussions initially held in 10-member groups have now progressed to 50-member groups. During this stage, chairpersons and secretaries present the key ideas and recommendations generated by the smaller groups for further deliberation.

He noted that, following discussions at the 50-member level, the proposals will be forwarded to 250-member groups for broader consideration.

The Chief Commissioner said participants continue to engage openly and respectfully, exchanging views while listening to one another. He emphasized that bringing together diverse perspectives and working toward common positions is central to achieving the conference’s objective of building consensus.

Professor Mesfin described the overall progress of the conference as encouraging, adding that the national dialogue remains a vital platform for addressing Ethiopia’s challenges through dialogue and consensus.

He further stated that the conference is proceeding in line with its established framework and that its overall implementation has been progressing as planned.
