ENDC concludes talks with former armed group in Amhara region

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission has concluded a three-day engagement with former armed groups in the Amhara region.

Speaking at a press conference on the closing ceremony, Commissioner Dr. Yonas Adaye stated that the Commission is working to ensure inclusivity and participation at all levels of the national dialogue process.

Most importantly, he noted that former armed groups are being engaged as active participants in the national dialogue process. According to the Commissioner, the recent meeting appears to be part of the Commission’s broader efforts to create an inclusive platform for dialogue within Ethiopia. He added that the groups had submitted their agenda items to the Commission, and discussions were held on key issues and processes aimed at strengthening the national dialogue initiative.

Commissioner Dr. Yonas also indicated that similar engagements will continue in other parts of the country where former armed groups are present.

Reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to inclusivity and broad participation, he emphasized that efforts to engage all stakeholders will continue until the national dialogue plenary session is convened.

He further called on armed groups across the country to take part in the national dialogue process.
