The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission conducted a two-day consultation in Gambella under the theme “The Role of Youth, Women, and Persons with Disabilities in an Effective National Dialogue Process.” The consultation aimed to raise awareness among these key social groups and reinforce their central role in the dialogue process.
In his opening remarks, Commissioner Melaku Woldemariam emphasised that such consultations are essential to ensuring the effectiveness of the national dialogue. He noted that the Commission’s methodology places strong emphasis on the participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities, recognising them as primary actors in the national dialogue process.
Commissioner Melaku further stressed that dialogue stands as the only viable path to achieving sustainable peace in the country. He called on all stakeholders to contribute to the peace building effort with a sense of ownership and responsibility.
The program brought together more than 170 participants, including representatives of women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
