Staff Urged to Strengthen Communication Skills for Effective National Dialogue

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission hosted a capacity-building training and consultative meeting on Saturday, July 19, 2025, aimed at enhancing institutional capacity and strengthening internal communication and teamwork.
On the occasion, Commissioner Dr. Yonas Adaye presented a paper titled “Organizational Communication and the Culture of Teamwork for Effective National Dialogue.” He emphasized that effective communication is at the heart of all organizational activities—from initiation to completion. Dr. Yonas also highlighted the importance of strong communication practices in fostering successful partnerships with external institutions.
Commissioner Ambassador Mohamud Dirir stressed the need to prioritize the Commission’s organizational goals and ensure alignment across all departments to achieve collective success. Similarly, Commissioner Mulugeta Ago emphasized the value of inputs gathered through such discussions in supporting the Commission’s upcoming plans. He commended the staff for their dedication to institutional excellence.
The event also featured presentations by scholars from Hawassa University, including a paper titled “The Role of Media and Communication in the National Dialogue Process.” The presenters underlined the critical role media and communication play in facilitating inclusive and effective dialogue.
In addition, Anbesie Fura, the Commission’s Research and Training Coordinator, delivered a presentation on “Institutional Knowledge Management and Transfer.” He emphasized the importance of robust systems for knowledge sharing and experience exchange to ensure the success of the dialogue process.
Organized by the Media, Communication, and Outreach Department, the event brought together staff members from various departments who engaged in group discussions and presented their insights to the Commissioners. The Commissioners expressed their commitment to incorporating the feedback into future plans.
It was also noted that similar training sessions focused on building institutional capacity will continue to be held in the coming months.
