ENDC Holds Consultations with Key Groups in Afar, Oromia

Adama/Jimma/Semera – December 22, 2025

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission is conducting a two-day consultative meeting in the Afar and Oromia regions, focusing on the inclusion of women, youth, and persons with physical disabilities.

The sessions, held in Adama and Jimma (Oromia Region) and Semera (Afar Region), specifically targeted representatives from these groups. The aim is to strengthen their roles and active participation in the ongoing national dialogue process.

Commissioners leading the programs emphasized the critical importance of involving women, youth, and persons with disabilities for the dialogue’s success. They highlighted that these groups are often the primary victims of conflicts across the nation.

The Oromia sessions (Adama and Jimma clusters) saw participation from representatives of women, youth, and persons with physical disabilities drawn from various zones of the region. Also attending were religious leaders, Aba Gedas (male clan leaders and elders), and Hade Sinkes (female clan leaders).

Similarly, the consultation in Semera, Afar Region, brought together diverse representatives of youth, women, and persons with physical disabilities.

The Commission continues its efforts to ensure broad societal representation in the national dialogue.
