ENDC Calls Media Houses to Report National Dialogue with Context

February 26, 2026 -Adama

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) held a meeting at Adama with leaders and experts from various media houses to discuss the Commission’s upcoming activities and explore how the media can play a stronger role.

In his opening remarks, Commissioner Ambassador Mohammed Dirir praised the media for their strong support so far. He noted that media outlets have been key partners in outreach efforts and have shown real commitment to their social responsibility. He encouraged them to continue this support through the remaining phases of the Commission’s work.

Commissioner Dr. Yonas Adaye, on his part, gave a presentation on the basics of reporting on the national dialogue process. Participants then shared ideas on better ways to cover these initiatives. The key message was clear: when reporting on the dialogue, media houses should always keep the broader context in mind.

Besides, it has been stressed that reports and contents should reflect core principles like inclusivity, representativeness, openness, and careful interpretation of information. This approach will help the public gain a deeper understanding of the entire process.

The session also included a summary of the Commission’s achievements over the past four years, along with its future plans and planned collaborations with the media. A lively Q&A followed, where attendees got answers to their questions and shared suggestions.

Participants also proposed several areas where media houses could contribute more effectively to the upcoming national dialogue activities.
