Agenda Items from Canada Submitted to the Commission’s Council

September 16, 2025

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission announced that agenda items collected from Ethiopians in Toronto, Canada, have been formally submitted to the Commission’s Council.

It will be recalled that the Commission recently organized a forum in Toronto to gather agenda items of the Ethiopian diaspora residing in Canada. Following the forum, Deputy Commissioner Hiroute Gebresilassie submitted 11 agenda documents, each containing 66 pages, to the Commission’s Documentation Coordination Unit.

The submissions were presented by 11 different groups, including individuals, institutions, unions, and associations. Participants in the process included 22 individuals living in Canada, 25 representatives of business firms, 8 representatives of civil society, 27 representatives of religious groups, and 6 media organizations.

Institutional submissions were also made by the Union of Evangelical Churches in Toronto, the Ethio-Canadian Muslim Association, and the Oromo Heritage Association. In addition, six scholars and intellectuals residing in Canada organized and presented their agenda.

In line with established procedures, these agenda items will be consolidated with those collected from other regions and forums, serving as key inputs for the upcoming National Dialogue Conference.
